Dennis L. “Denny” Penland, 61, of Auburn, died Monday July 25, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Denny was born December 16, 1954 in Angola. Denny was a truck driver for 35 years and had worked for Seyferts, Food Marketing, Ryder Dedicated Logistics and Perfection Bakery. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Auburn. In his early 20’s, Denny rode his bicycle from coast to coast, starting in Maine and ending in California. He enjoyed working in his garage tinkering with projects, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Deb Penland of Auburn; parents, Richard “Dick” and Ann Penland of Auburn; daughters and son-in-law, Stacy and Nathan Tatman of Auburn and Jessica Penland of Fort Wayne; sons, Al Wilson of Auburn and Bruce Wilson of Auburn; grandchildren, Dylan Tatman, Kayla Tatman, Aubry Tatman, Daleska Tatman, Emily Tatman, Luke Wilson and Ethan Wilson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Sabine Penland of Auburn, Jeff and Jeanne Penland of Waterloo, Eric and Cindy Penland of New Albany and Barry and Misheila Penland of Auburn. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday with visitation one hour prior at Immaculate Conception Church 500 E. Seventh Street, Auburn. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. Recital of the rosary will be held 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Derrick Sneyd will be officiating. Burial will be held in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Auburn. Memorials may be directed to Knights of Columbus Council 9186.
