Terry Lee Freeman, 67, of Garrett, Indiana, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Born on August 3, 1957, in Garrett, Terry was a 1976 graduate of Garrett High School, where he was a proud member of the state championship football team.
Terry worked as a brakeman for B&O Railroad from 1978 to 1987 before joining Custer Grain Company in Garrett. In addition, he became a trusted transporter for the Amish community, forming many friendships along the way. He was a longtime member of the Garrett Eagles and the Sons of the American Legion.
Terry was a loving, caring, and generous person who loved and cherished spending time with his family and friends.
An avid outdoorsman, Terry loved hunting and fishing. He was also a skilled pool player who competed in numerous area tournaments.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife, Vonda L. (Payton) Freeman of Garrett; his daughter and son-in-law, Chasity and Ron Thompson of Auburn; his sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Bobbie Freeman of Kendallville and Jason and Alyson Freeman of Garrett; 35 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Lori Freeman of Auburn; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Bev Treesh of Auburn; two sisters he never had the opportunity to meet, Melody and Julie; his aunt, Eula Kell of Huntertown; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie DeVeny; his father, Robert Lee Freeman; two grandchildren, Lilly and Tyler; and his uncle, Fred Kell.
A visitation for Terry will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 2 p.m., with an hour of visitation prior from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Garrett at a later date.
