Ronald Pittman

Mr. Ronald Lee Pittman of Auburn, IN, formerly of Weirton, WV, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, after an ongoing battle with cancer with his family at his side.  He was 73 years old.

Ronald was born in Steubenville, OH, on February 15, 1951, to Thomas Pittman and Dorothy Fields Shedlock.

He attended Weir High School and enlisted in the United States Army in September of 1968.  Ronald proudly served twenty years of honorable service ascending to the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the US Army in September 1988. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 97 in Auburn, IN.

Although he resided in Indiana, his Ohio Valley roots would annually find him cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.  He was a family man who adored his grandchildren.

Ronald was a fiercely rigid individual. Following policy to the letter, he accredits this demeanor from his time in the United States Army. It was a time worthy of acknowledgment and an absolute expression of a life, well lived.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret Pittman, and brother Richard Pittman.

Left to cherish his memory with love and admiration are his wife Jane Myers Pittman, children Thomas (Nadia) Pittman of Altamonte Springs, FL, Raymond Pittman of Pueblo, CO, and Kathrine Pittman of Auburn, IN, grandchildren Davion Jordan, Landon and Logan Sliger of Auburn, IN, and Cameron and Kloe Pittman of Altamonte Springs, FL, brother John Shedlock of CA, sisters Linda Pittman-Warrick of Brilliant, OH, Sandra Pittman-Personette of Rowlette, TX, Marilyn Shedlock-Robinson of Wheeling, WV, Diana Shedlock (Robert) Kelly of Coraopolis, PA, Joan Shedlock-DiGregorio of Imperial, PA, Rose Shedlock-Mader and  Mary Pittman-Kohen both of Weirton, WV, and Bonnie Pittman of Steubenville, OH.

Friends may visit Ronald’s family at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton, WV for a viewing on Sunday, July 7 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral service will commence July 8 at 11:00 am. Pastor Larry Barkley will officiate.

Burial will follow in Three Springs Cemetery, 200 Three Springs DR, Weirton, WV.

Ronald will be buried next to his first wife Margaret.

His family will be hosting a Celebration of Life in his honor at the American Legion, Post 97, 1729 Sprott Street, Auburn, IN on Saturday, July 13th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. You are welcome to attend and share your memories of Ron.
