Robert “Bob” Bell, 77, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, 2024 at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler, where he had been recovering from a recent back surgery. Bob was born April 1, 1947 in Hartford City, Indiana, a son of the late Russell and Eileen Bell. Bob was a lineman for Indiana Bell for over 30 years where he was recognized for great customer service and dedication, rarely missing a single day of work. He was a member of the Auburn Moose Lodge 566 and made numerous friends there throughout the years.
Bob enjoyed simple pleasures like hunting and fishing and growing fruit and vegetables in his garden and grilling out. At times he even dabbled in making wine. He had a great sense of humor, and his laugh was infectious. He would never let you leave his house empty handed, always thinking of others and buying them small tokens of affection to send them off with. His love for his family was immense and clear and he would do anything for anyone, whether he knew you well or not. He will be so greatly missed.
Bob is survived by three sons and their wives, Jeff and Sarah Bell of Champaign, Illinois, Jason and Tami Bell of Auburn, and Chad Bell of Garrett; grandchildren, Kayla (Luke) Barnhart, Katie Bell, Hunter Bell, Rayne Bell, Landon Bell, Henry Bell and Truman Bell; great grandchildren Grayson Barnhart and Hallie Barnhart; nephew, Brian Bell. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law Francis and Judy Bell and their daughter Rachel.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street Auburn. To sign the online guestbook, visit www.pinningtonfh.com.
