ROBERT EDMOND PRINZING, JR

July 9, 1936 – January 20, 2025

Robert (Bob) went home to be with our Lord Jesus peacefully on Monday morning.  He joins his beloved wife Marilyn, his brother Richard, and parents Delores and Robert in the eternal peace of heaven. Robert is survived by his sister, Delores Prinzing- Larsen; his children, Brenda Prinzing, Tara (Patrick) O’Dell, Linda (Jim) Mueller, and Erik (Debbie) Prinzing. 

Beloved "Grandpa Sparky" to his eight grandchildren, Amber (Michael) Bradburn, Amanda Wholaver, Samantha (Michael) Jahn, Zachery (Kim) Kraemer, Kady O’Dell, Kyle (Robyn) Kraemer, Jason Prinzing, Erin Prinzing and 8 great grandchildren, Emma and Kash Wholaver, Owen O’Dell, Saya Bradburn, Leonardo Jahn, Gray Bradburn, Nanami Kraemer, Vera Jahn. 

Bob, a native of Crawfordsville, Indiana, enlisted in the National Guard during high school. He later joined the U.S. Navy, completing Radio school and serving on the USS Wisconsin. After attending CRYPTO school and Underwater Demolition School, he became one of the first Navy SEALs, serving with teams 21 and 22.

After leaving military service Bob went on the serve as a Highland Park police officer, Senior Customer Engineer for I.B.M and Executive with Williams Electronics.

Bob was deeply involved and very prolific in community service throughout his life.  Bob was a pioneer in emergency services, serving as one of the first 4 paramedics in Lake County IL.,  Bob was an EMT Instructor and held an advisory board position for the Fire Science & Technology program at College of Lake County.  Bob devoted a total of 40 years to service as a volunteer firefighter with the Vernon Fire Department and as a volunteer firefighter and paramedic with the Libertyville Fire Department. He also held the position of Regional Chairman for the Red Cross Lake County, to name a few of his contributions.

Bob's lifelong passion for music began in childhood when he learned to play trumpet. He continued to play throughout his life and was a proud member of Bugles Across America.

Bob was deeply involved in the Masonic Order, holding positions of leadership in the Masons, Knights Templar and Shriners.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org/Indiana) A memorial service for Marilyn and Robert Prinzing, Jr. will be announced at a later date.
