Pat “Patsy” J. Cannon, age 80, of Auburn, passed away peacefully, with her husband John at her side, on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Betz Nursing Home in Auburn.
She was born on December 11, 1944, in Ligonier, Indiana, to Merill and Sarah “Sally” Grooms.
Pat graduated from Fort Wayne Business College and began her career at Lincoln Life Insurance in Fort Wayne. She later worked at General Telephone where she met her husband John and then worked alongside him at their family business, Tri State Memorials, and went on to serve as a secretary at DeKalb Memorial Hospital from which she retired.
A woman of deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and having a vibrant community spirit, Pat was a devoted member of Saint Andrew EPC Church. She was also actively involved in the Nur Fur Uns Club and Tri Kappa.
Pat will be remembered for her loving nature, joyful personality, and unwavering support of her family and friends, and Church family. She lived her life In devotion to her Lord and as a source of encouragement and support to others, always guided by her love for God.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Cannon of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Cindy Cannon of Orlando, Florida, and Collier and Jaimee Cannon of Waukesha, Wisconsin; and grandchildren, Charis, Caleb, Alec, Claire, and Annalise Cannon. Also surviving are her sisters, Mary Culp, Carole Russo, and Janet Prather, and sister-in-law, Barbara Grooms.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, LeRoy “Bud” Grooms; and brothers-in-law, Robert Culp, Ben Russo, and Aaron Prather.
Memorial donations may be made in Pat’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or Saint Andrew EPC Church.
Visitation for Pat will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior from 10-11a.m. at Saint Andrew EPC Church 316 W. 4th Street, Auburn. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
