Lurlei A. Gibson, 47, of Garrett, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on November 8, 1977, in LaGrange.
Lurlei had a vibrant personality and a love for life’s little joys. She adored Halloween and dressing up in costumes, and she had a special fondness for dolphins, frogs, snowmen, and horses. Her favorite movie was Aladdin, a reflection of her playful and imaginative spirit. Growing up, she spent many weekends at the racetrack with her father, and Winchester Speedway in Indiana remained her favorite. She spent most of her life in Avilla, where she was surrounded by friends and family. Her favorite colors—black, blue, and purple—captured the bold and beautiful person she was. Above all, she cherished her grandchildren and loved shopping for them, always finding joy in spoiling them with thoughtful gifts.
She is survived by her children, Savannah (Brennan) Brown of Rome City, Brianna (Max) Colgan of Columbia City, and Chase (Davannah) Colgan of Garrett; her mother, Sandra Brady of Rome City; grandchildren, Ellie Brown, Hudson Brown, Theodore Colgan, Ezlynn Brown, and Elijah Colgan; her partner, John Colgan of Garrett; her brother, Charles Schindler of Fort Wayne; and her sister, Katie Wenger of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Schindler; father, Stanley Brady; and grandparents, Joanna and Carl Edward Hindenlang, and Wava and Charles Schindler
A service will be held at the Church at Garrett 1370 S. Randolph Street, Garrett, Indiana. Service information will be posted shortly
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
