Keith (Bill) William Scranton, Accountant, 79, of Auburn, died Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was born March 14, 1943, in Hicksville, Ohio. Keith graduated in 1961 from Fairview High School and married his wife, Pamela (Nidlinger) Scranton, on April 26, 1972. They were just a few days away from celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Keith graduated from Defiance College with a degree in accounting. He then received his Master's degree from Saint Francis University, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Eventually, he continued his education even further at Bowling Green University, Ohio, in Distributive Education.
He was an accountant at Campbell Foods, Napoleon, Ohio; Cooper's, Auburn, Indiana; Eagle Pitcher, Grabill, Indiana; and Trine University, Angola, Indiana. He also served in the Ohio National Guard for six years.
Keith was a member of the Auburn Presbyterian Church. He was an active member of Warbirds. Also, a life member of the Farmer American Legion, Farmer, Ohio.
He was a researcher of World War II history with an interest in armaments. However, he was well-versed in various subjects due to his unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Keith was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time at the library. If you were looking for him, you could find him at the movie theater, Mcdonald's, or the library. Even with ALS, his mind was sharp, even to the end, and never deterred on red tape tasks.
Keith had a dry sense of humor and a joking demeanor. He was a connoisseur of chocolate and ketchup (not together). He enjoyed eating out and finding historical landmarks.
He embodied "reduce, reuse, recycle" and "waste not, want not." Keith had a kind and loving soul and was a soft-spoken person. He enjoyed classical and 1980's alternative music like "Men at Work" and Mozart.
He was loved by his family and will be deeply missed by them.
He was preceded in death by his father, Darrell Scranton, and his mother, Mildred (Nell) Scranton.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Scranton; two sons David (Kristen) and Mark (Sarah); and five grandchildren, Levi, Nyah, Bella, Kiera, and Wyatt. Keith was a faithful husband, devoted father, and loving grandfather.
A visitation and remembrance of life will be at the Auburn Presbyterian Church, Auburn, Indiana, on Saturday, April 30. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM; the funeral will be at 2:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Stillwater Hospice and Child Evangelism.
