Donald D. Meschberger, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Don was born on Feb. 11, 1947, in Fort Wayne, and grew up on a rural Auburn farm, along with his four siblings.
Don was a 1965 graduate of Auburn High School and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving from 1965-1968, and was a Vietnam War veteran.
He was a member of Norris Chapel United Methodist Church for 50 years and had also served as an elder at the church.
Don was a member of American Legion Post 97 in Auburn and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an avid Purdue Boilermaker basketball fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing and being a baseball coach for Auburn Little League.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Meschberger, of Fort Wayne; son and his wife, Darin and Amy Meschberger, of Auburn; daughter and her husband, Daniss and Jeremy Warner, of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Marisa Clair, Trace Meschberger, Ashley Meschberger, Kierstin Dunton, Jacob Warner, Zachary Warner, Brooke Wright and Dayton Wright; six great-grandchildren, with the seventh on the way; brother, Dennis Meschberger, of Auburn; sisters, Nancy Critchfield, of New Haven and Joyce (Dan) Harding, of Corunna; and sister in-law, Rose Meschberger, of Wolcottville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Mary Meschberger; and a brother, David Meschberger.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 4-7 p.m., at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main St., Auburn.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be held at Alton Cemetery, Saint Joe.
