Diane Smith Obituary

Diane Smith, 56, of Auburn, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Born on June 8, 1969, in Auburn, Diane was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought comfort, joy, and unwavering love to those around her.

Diane was a faithful member of Grace Christian Church in Kendallville, where her church family held a special place in her heart. Her life was marked by a humble spirit and a servant’s heart—she showed her love most through acts of service, always willing to show up, lend a hand, or offer kindness in quiet and meaningful ways. She was the true embodiment of the proverbial villager, always showing up for those around her.

Family was the center of Diane’s world. She cherished every moment spent with her children and especially treasured time with her grandchildren, who were her greatest joy. She was also blessed with lifelong friends who supported, encouraged, and loved her through every chapter of life. Their bond and influence were truly instrumental to who she was.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Matt Smith of Auburn; her children, Trent (Kayla) Zolman of Fort Wayne, Colton (Carly) Riccius of Auburn, Chance (Kimberlee) Riccius of Auburn, Cain Smith of Garrett, and Scarlett Smith of Auburn; and her beloved grandchildren: Jayda, Kendall, Elle, Beatrice, Wrendell, Kendra, Hunter, Zaylynn, Marshall, and Lilli. She is also survived by her brothers, Rick Zolman, Steve (Holly) Zolman, and Scott (Wendy) Zolman; and by her nieces and nephews, Amanda, Meagan, Maddy, Emma, Anna, Brandon, and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Plimpton; brother, Charles Zolman; and granddaughter, Kelsey Zolman
