Cheryl L. Hohman, 74, of St. Joe, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 14, 1950, in Angola, Cheryl grew up in Hamilton, where she graduated from Hamilton High School. She had a passion for baking and dedicated many years working in the cafeteria for DeKalb County Eastern Community School District. Cheryl also enjoyed attending St. Joe Church of Christ.
Cheryl had a vibrant personality and cherished her weekly card games with a close group of friends. She found joy in flowers, plants, and gardening, and she took pride in her beautiful garden pond. An avid reader, Cheryl could often be found visiting the Butler Library twice a week to explore new books.
A dedicated supporter of school athletics, Cheryl spent countless evenings cheering on her grandchildren as they played soccer. Her home was filled with love, including her beloved cat, Goldie, who was her constant companion.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Al Hohman of St. Joe; her daughters, Amanda (Corbin Brinkley) Mansfield of Auburn and Amy (Jeff Walker) Hohman of Spencerville; and her cherished grandchildren, Pierceton Mansfield and Sydney Mansfield, both of Auburn. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Phyllis) Gaff of Hamilton and John Gaff of Coldwater, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Louise Gaff, and three sisters, Eleanor Brock, Helen Rinehart, and Katherine Wilson; and a brother, Perry Gaff Jr.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m., at St. Joe Church of Christ, 508 Jefferson Street, St. Joe, Indiana. Pastor Donny Goff will officiate. Private burial will be held at Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Indiana.
