Carole Toebe Obituary

Carole Lynn “The Cat Lady” Toebe, 83, of Auburn, Indiana, formerly of Redding, California, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Born on May 30, 1941, in Winnipeg, Canada, Carole was a loving and kind soul who brought joy to everyone she met.

Carole’s love for her family was boundless. Even at 83, she was known for her spirited participation in her grandchildren’s baseball games, always eager to join in the fun. Her unconditional love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward, California.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl Hawley of Redding, California, Kelly Rivers of Auburn, Indiana, and David Toebe of Roanoke, Indiana; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Hawley, Amanda Evans, Matthew Hawley, Tim Rivers, and Andrew Toebe; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jameson Evans, Jackson Evans, Reagan Hawley, and Blair Hawley. Carole’s love extended to her four-legged companions, Frank, Thumper, and Kink—cats she lovingly adopted and gave a wonderful life.

Carole was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Harro Toebe, as well as her parents, Tim and Marda Balyk; sister, Joanne Lemas; and a brother, Glenn Balyk.

Her family and friends will forever remember her generous spirit, her infectious energy, and her unwavering devotion to those she loved.

“Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a loss of faith, it is the price of love”

“I trust the next chapter because I know the author”

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
