Allen K. Kline

Allen K. Kline, of Garrett, died Sunday May 27, 2018 in Fort Wayne. Allen’s family includes his mother, Marcia Kline; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brandon and Brianne Kline of Austin, TX, and Brice and Anna Kline of Fort Wayne; daughter, Brittany Kline of Fort Wayne; two brothers, Steve (Marie Wayman) Kline, and Doug (Lara) Kline; and two grandchildren. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Kline; father, Ray Kline; grandparents, Paul and Dorothy Kline; and grandparents, Clarence and Margaret Jacobs. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. No service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.

Life Story of Allen Kline

When reflecting on the life of Allen Kline, it is easy to see that he had a huge heart. He was kind and compassionate with a desire to help those around him in ways both great and small. Allen was blessed to share much of his life with his true love, and he was so proud of his children each and every day. A lifelong resident of the community he loved, he made a significant impact in the lives of so many around him. Although he will be deeply missed, Allen leaves behind a priceless collection of memories that his loved ones will forever hold near and dear to their hearts.

Life during the 1960s was certainly exciting in America. Television shows like I Love Lucy and Father Knows Best entertained us in our living rooms while the music scene was largely dominated by Elvis Presley. This was the decade when we elected the young John F. Kennedy as our 35th President of the United States, only to mourn his death a short time later. It was just as this decade was getting started that Ray and Marcia Kline were eagerly awaiting the birth of their new baby as winter appeared on the horizon in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1960. Their wait was finally over on December 3rd when the baby boy they named Allen K. drew his first breath. He was one of three children as he was raised in the family home in Fort Wayne alongside his brothers, Steve and Doug. Allen was a typical young boy of his generation who enjoyed many of the same things that other boys did. His father was an engineer at Magnavox while his mother focused her time and attention at home. As a teenager he enjoyed baseball, fishing, and hunting , and in high school he was a member of the marching band.

New and exciting changes were in store for Allen when he met the young woman of his dreams. Her name was Susan Frost, and they met at the Three Rivers Festival in Fort Wayne. They began dating, and it didn't take the couple long to fall deeply in love. With a desire to spend the rest of their lives together, Allen and Susan were married on December 28, 1985, in Kendallville, IN. Together they welcomed three children including Brandon, Brice, and Brittany into their hearts and home.

Throughout his life Allen was known for his strong work ethic. He worked as a service writer at Don Ayres Honda for many years, and he also worked filling vending machines at Snyder Distributing. There, he made many of his lifelong friends. In addition, Allen worked as a machine operator and a fork lift operator at Carlex Glass.

Always one to keep busy, Allen was a man of many interests. He didn’t travel extensively, but some of their favorite family memories were made on a family trip to Scotland in 2009. Allen was thrilled to become a grandfather to two grandchildren, Ivory and Carson. He continued to enjoy fishing as an adult, and some of his favorite moments were spent with family and friends out on the water. Allen frequented St. Clair where he primarily fished for small mouth bass. As an avid baseball fan, he liked going to Chicago Cubs games, and he was also a fan of the Chicago Bears. Allen played the guitar and liked going to concerts of all kinds. He particularly enjoyed blues music. One of his favorite concerts was when he went to see Tom Petty.

All who knew Allen Kline would agree that there was no one quite like him. He had a huge heart coupled with a fun-loving sense of humor that made him so much fun to be around. Allen was a family man through and through, and he was so thrilled to witness his family grow over the years. With a life that spanned times of great change around him, Allen experienced so many of the best things that life has to offer. He will be forever missed.
