Velma Carteaux, 87, of Auburn, died Friday, September 29, 2017, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. Mrs. Carteaux was born November 5, 1929 in Avilla. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Auburn, American Legion Post 240 Ladies Auxiliary, and former member of Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Avilla. She and her husband were former owners of Carteaux Tavern in Avilla. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane & Dale Wilson of Auburn, Deb & Jim Grant of Dunedin, FL, and Darlene and Todd Strock of Auburn; son and his fiancé, William Carteaux and Daniele Bice  Fresca of Washington, D. C.; half sister, Doris Cooksey of Blair, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; one step grandchild; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Carteaux; brother, Jack Fischer; sister, Wilma Helmer; and a great grandson. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.  Wednesday with visitation one hour prior at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 500 E. Seventh Street, Auburn. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. Recital of the rosary will be held 7:30 Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Saint Mary Cemetery, Avilla. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
