Lawrence J. “Larry” Leon, 82, of Auburn, died Sunday February 11, 2018 at DeKalb Health in Auburn. Larry was born March 8, 1935, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Vitantonio and Carolina Leon. Larry was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during the Korean War. Larry was a member of Immaculate Conception Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir and also a member of the Knights of Columbus council 9186. Larry had worked at Cooper Standard in Auburn retiring in 1991. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Deborah Leon of Auburn, Donald Leon of Albion, Ronald and Lydia Leon of Garrett, Mark and Marilyn Leon of Auburn and Daniel Leon of Auburn. Daughters and son-in-law, Valerie Leon of Kendallville and Annette and Nicholas Reith of Fort Wayne; 23 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vera Leon in 2015; brothers, Dr. John Leon, Patrick Leon, Joseph Leon, Anthony Leon and Francis Leon; sisters, Doris Leon, Rosemary Leon and Mary Bingen. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Friday with visitation one hour prior at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 500 E. Seventh Street, Auburn. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. A vigil service will be held at 4 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Wrozek will be officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church. Burial in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Auburn.
