Effie M. Combs

Effie M. Combs, 92, of Garrett, died Monday November 12, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett. Effie was born April 12, 1926 in Hazard, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Steve and Virgie Turner. Effie was a nurse’s aide at Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne retiring after 30 years of service. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to garage sales with her sister Mary Perkins. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Lois and Beauford Mullins of Avilla, Sue Richerson of Waynedale and Kathy Fugate of Garrett; 39 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Junior Combs; sons, Jimmy Combs and Billy Combs; daughters, Geraldine Combs and Diane Ferguson; brothers, Herbert Turner and William Turner; sister, Mary Perkins. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11:30 am with visitation one hour prior at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn.  Pastor Tom Wilcoxson will be officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Huntertown.
