Gloria Dingman Obituary

Gloria Louise Dingman, 74, of Auburn IN passed away on Easter Sunday April 1, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett. Gloria Chilcutt was born in Henry County Tennessee near Buchanan on the 1st of November 1943 to Hafford and Bernice Chilcutt of Peru IN, Gloria graduated from Peru High School in 1962. Gloria spent much of her childhood with her grandmother Retha Walford in Tennessee.

On June 16th of 1962 Gloria Chilcutt married James A. Dingman of Peru IN. They lived in Peru until 1970 than moved to Auburn IN. In Auburn Gloria was employed by Essex Group (72-74) and Countyline Cheese (76-88), at County Line Gloria worked a variety of roles including as forklift operator.

From an early age Glory had a creative nature that she expressed in the arts, Glory had been painting as long as her children can remember. Her artwork has received awards in Dekalb county and can be found on office walls in Auburn and on the walls of her children. This love of the arts has inspired her children, grand children and all those around her.

In addition to painting Gloria enjoyed, Sewing, Scrabble, fishing, traveling, politics, writing, auto racing and taking care of her nieces and nephews. Gloria was an avid republican and a dedicated WOWO listener with an eagerness to express her political opinions to all those around her.

Cushing's syndrome, her battle…and will to live!  In 1988 Glory was diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome caused by a tumor on her left adrenal gland, the removal resulted in a stroke and a brief coma. That event resulted in a long recovery for Gloria that she documented for the benefit of others suffering from Cushing’s syndrome.

Despite all that Gloria had been through she continued to have an optimistic outlook on life that motivated all those around her and she had a sense of humor that kept everyone smiling including her close family and friends who will miss her very much!

Gloria (Glory) was preceded in death by her parents Hafford and Bernice Chilcutt and her sister of Peru Indiana. Gloria is survived by her three sons Anthony W. Dingman of Anaheim CA, James B. Dingman of Spencerville IN and Phillip E. Dingman of North Manchester IN and her three brothers Clyde B. Chilcutt of Granbury TX, Carl D. Chilcutt of Hudson IN and David Chilcutt of Indianapolis.  Gloria has six grand Children, Jeremy Dingman of Oceanside CA, Logan Dingman of Ft. Wayne IN, Elizah, Adam and Audrey Dingman of Anaheim CA and Maddy Day of Waterloo IN. Close family include her sister in-law Pam Chilcutt with whom Glory enjoyed shopping for family and holiday events. Her daughter in-law Linda Dingman with whom she shared holiday occasions. Both Pam and Linda provided Glory with support in her later years.

Visitation will be held from 2- 5 PM on Saturday April 7,   2018 at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services 502 N. Main Street, Auburn. Memorial donations may be made to DeKalb Humane Society.
